Renato Goulart is a saxophonist, composer, arranger, conductor, educator, and cultural producer. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music with a specialization in saxophone from UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais) and a Postgraduate degree in Music Education from Faculdade Unyleya. During his undergraduate studies, he was mentored by Professor Dilson Florêncio. Later on, he became a member, composer, and principal arranger of the Monte Pascoal group, a band that resulted in a CD featuring his original works and reinterpretations of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB). His symphonic and chamber compositions have been performed in Brazil and abroad, including in the USA, Portugal, Spain, Chile, Argentina, and Poland. In 2018, his composition for choir, "The Daughter Who Flew Through the Atmosphere & Into a State of Nature" (in partnership with American poet Marci Vogel), was the only foreign piece selected by the Choral Arts Initiative program in Los Angeles, USA. In 2017, his composition "Suite do Vale" for Wind Band also represented Brazil among the finalists of the WASBE Composition Contest in the Netherlands. In 2016, his orchestral work "Impressões Francesas" was performed by the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra and was among the finalists of the "Festival Tinta Fresca".

In the field of music education, he founded and coordinated the Wind Orchestra of the Fundação de Educação Artística, where he organized the Composition and Arrangement Contest for Wind Orchestra in two editions from 2008 to 2015. He was the creator and coordinator of "Pró-Banda - Musical Training Program for Wind Musicians" in 2015, held in Florestal, MG.

He also serves as a guest professor at various music courses and festivals, conducting bands and teaching saxophone, composition, orchestration, and arrangement. He has been a teacher and conductor of the Youth Band Idelbrando Santana in Rubim, MG, since 2016. After the pandemic period, he returned to Buenópolis, where he grew up and began his musical studies at Euterpe Santa Cecília. Since 2020, he has been acting as the conductor of this band and proposing and coordinating projects related to the group's development.

Among his awards and selections, he has won the 1st place in the National Composition Contest for Bands – Level 3 (2014), Honorable Mention in the 2nd Composition Contest for Children and Youth Orchestras – Iberorquestras – Ibermusicas (2016), and 1st place in the Traditional Music Band Arrangement Contest (2009).

His compositions and arrangements have been published in the USA by Dorn Publications, Murphy Music Press, and SMP Press.
